September Meeting Notes

Notes: 9/11/12 meeting

Great meeting last night.  A huge thanks to member Bridgette Buckley for hosting!

I want to welcome a couple new members that joined the conversation:

Linda Pulik
Eve Fineman

Bridgette and Sharon led the conversation about the inaugural Chicago L(a)WD Exhibition. All ideas regarding this idea are welcome.  This conversation will continue as a collaborative process but will be led by Bridgette and Sharon.  A show will be put together for 2013.

-How do we want to present ourselves to Chicago + beyond?

-inclusive – welcome to any women in the professional design field
-make a strong statement
-communicate all individual strengths
-some kind of connection to Portland group (other cities)

-What setting / context are we imaging?

-diverse in work
-call for entries
-possible small entry fee
-juried show, invite a few jury members from outside the group

-Theme ideas?

-coming up with “theme” – example of “ruffle” for upcoming Portland show
-production vs. custom
-women as makers
-process – linda mentioned this article in regards to process and drawing
