May Meeting Notes

Notes: 5/8/13

*The next regular meeting is scheduled for August as we turn focus to both the LWD show and the panel discussions for June and July.

-We now have a more face forward web address:  www.lwdchicago.org

-This is still the same wordpress site and we can all add blog posts to continue the collaborative nature of the group

-Any and all suggestions on how to make this better are greatly appreciated.

The main focus of this meeting was to finalize the details of the SKIRT show as a group as well as provide any feedback for submitted pieces.

SKIRT show details:

-We have decided to focus solely on the show at Manifold.  This is an update from the previous idea of doing a pop-up show during the Guerilla Truck Show and then moving to the gallery space for the duration.  This will help us direct our energies towards making the show and the panel programming the strongest it can be.

The final copy for the show written by Lauren Viera looks great and LWD member Heather Anderson is creating the show poster which will act as marketing for the show as well as a take away.

Opening Reception:               June 15th, 6pm – 9pm

Panel Discussion:                 June 29th, 2pm – Skirting the Boundaries of Design –

-Conversations around the term Human Centered Design and the resulting practices that are at the boundaries of this idea.

Closing and Panel Discussion:            July 27th, 2pm – Design & Craft / Hands-on & Digital –

-Discussions exploring the contemporary intersection of making, process and product.
